ROSEPINE — Required appraisals are being done of property that Rosepine wants to purchase as the site of a new wastewater plant.

The town and property owners have been negotiating for a couple of months on a purchase price.

Once a price is agreed upon, an appraisal is required by state law to determine whether the property is valued at or below the price offered. If it is, the matter can proceed; if not, it’s back to the negotiating table.

Mayor Donna Duvall told the town council Tuesday night that survey and plat work is currently under way.

Town Attorney Steven Oxenhandler said the deadline for completing the package is Jan. 12.
