Kerrigan Small and Zakayla Collins each scored 20 points to lead Leesville over Hornbeck in the first-round of the Vernon Parish Tournament.
The Wampus Cats outscored Hornets 10-5 in the second quarter, which proved to be the difference maker in the close contest.
(25) led Hornbeck with 16 points with half her points coming from the free throw line.
Pitkin 36, Evans 27
Evans led Pitkin 17-16 at the half, but the Tigers scored just one point in the third quarter as Evans took control of the scoreboard. The Eagles outscored Tigers 20-10 in the second to advance to the second round of the Vernon Parish Tournament.
Kylee Cooper (11 points) Brilee Nolen (10 points) scored in double digits for Pitkin, and Enola Gollihugh led Evans with nine points.
Pickering 65, Hicks 54
Pickering avenged a loss to Hicks from the Anacoco Tournament last weekend with a 65-54 win over the Pirates in the first-round of the Vernon Parish Tournament.
Tyrese Smith got Pickering out to a hot start with 11 of his 19 points in the first quarter.
The Red Devils and the Pirates were tied at 34 at halftime, and Pickering took control from there, outscoring Hicks 16-8 in the third quarter.
Pickering's Dashawn Jackson led all scorers with 21 points, and Trace Williams (17), Mitchell Kinchen (11) and Austin Merchant (10) all scored in double figures for Hicks.
Hicks 65, Rosepine 57
Behind 28 points from forward Lauren Quinn, Hicks defeated Rosepine in the first round of the Vernon Parish Tournament at Hornbeck High School.
Quinn scored 18 points in the first half and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Chloe Willbanks added 19 for Hicks in the win, while Cheyenne Vander led Rosepine with 19 points and Alexis Sargent added 15.
Hornbeck 74, Rosepine 43
Cooper Smith did it from the paint and from deep to lead Hornbeck over Rosepine Friday night at the Vernon Parish Tournament.
Smith finished with 25 points, with 22 coming in the first half, as the Hornets ran away with the 74-43 win.
Braylon Evans added 10 for Hornbeck, including eight points in the third quarter.
Xavier McCarty led Rosepine with nine points.
Leesville 73, Anacoco 47
Seginald Bryant and Duwon Tolbert each scored 19 points as Leesville overcame a slow start to beat Anacoco 73-47.
The Wampus Cats trailed 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored the Indians 16-9 in the second quarter and 20-9 in the third quarter to distance themselves.
Landry Alligood led Anacoco with 13 points and was intricate in the Indians' early lead with nine points in the first quarter. Parker Davis was right behind Alligood with 11 points.
