The Hicks girls outscored Hornbeck in every quarter en route to its 58-44 win Friday night at Hicks High School.

Pirate forward Lauren Quinn scored nine of her team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Hornbeck trailed 14-13 at the end of the first, but the Pirates extended their lead to 32-25 at half.

Hicks outscored the Hornets 15-10 in the third to take a double-digit lead, before Quinn closed out the game in the fourth quarter.

Quinn also led Hicks with nine rebounds and seven assists, while Daci Warren (13) and Chloe Wilbanks (11) joined her in double figures. Wilbanks flirted with a triple-double with six rebounds and six assists.

Hornbeck was led on offense by Carolina Jara-Selvage's 18 points, while Kylee Baggs scored 12 off three 3-pointers. Callee Corley joined them in double figures with 10 points.

Leading 47-45 heading into the fourth quarter, the Hicks boys pulled away in the final period to avoid a loss at home against Hornbeck.

Down by 45-42 in the third quarter, Hicks guard Mitchell Kinchen hit a 3-pointer to tie it up with 1:25 left in the third.

In the fourth quarter, Austin Merchant scored nine of his 13 points to seal the () win for the Pirates.

Kinchen led all scorers with 25 points, and Daniel Miller added 16 for the Pirates.

Cooper Smith led Hornbeck with 18 points, while Grady Mitchan (17) and Ryan Quinn (10) joined him double figures.

The Pickering boys jumped out to an early lead on Oakdale and never let up as it picked up a district win at home.

The Red Devils move to 13-11 on the year and 3-0 in Class 2A, District 5 following the 73-50 win Friday night.

Pickering got out to a 18-7 at the end of the first and continued to pour it on in the second quarter, outscoring Oakdale 24-15 in the quarter.

The Red Devils led 60-36 at the end of the third quarter and closed out the win the fourth quarter.

Freshman DeShawn Jackson led all scorers with a career-high 36 points, with 20 points coming in the first half. Jackson did it in the paint and from behind the arc, hitting three 3-pointers.

Tyrese Smith joined Jackson in double figures with 13 points.

On Thursday, Jackson had another big game against East Beauregard in the Red Devil's 73-55 win. Jackson scored a team-high 26 points with 18 coming in the first quarter. He hit four 3-pointers in the opening period as the Red Devils got out to a 23-14 lead.

Emanuel Mosley took over in the second quarter, scoring nine points as the Red Devils extended their lead to 44-28 at half.

The Pickering girls fell to Oakdale Friday night 73-41 after being outscored 25-10 in the third quarter.

The Red Devils trailed 16-8 after the first quarter, but kept it close with a 13-13 second quarter.

Mahogany Griffin led Pickering with 18 points, and Breanna Redden added 11 points.

Thursday night, the Red Devils led after the first quarter but East Beauregard took control in the second to take the 55-42 win.

Pickering led 9-8 after the first quarter, but the Trojans rolled in the second quarter, outscoring Pickering 23-12.

The Red Devils were unable to undo the deficit, as they lost on the road.

Griffin and Moriah Jones each scored 12 points in the loss.
