City of Leesville, District 3, Danny Dowd

Danny Dowd is running for reelection for the City of Leesville District 3 seat against Nicole Ybarra. Dowd is a 1976 Leesville High graduate and has been in the area since 1962, when his family was stationed in Vernon Parish. Dowd has served five terms and says he has the learned the inner workings of the city. During his tenure, he says the progress is what stands out to him. "I am most proud of the progress we have made not only in District 3 but in the city as a whole," Dowd said., "Over my years as District 3 Councilman we have seen, construction of a new fire station, sewer line replacements, some street overlays, updating of 50 year old playground equipment in Myrtle Park, partnering with Gallery One Eleven to create The Leesville Art Park, repairing water lines to reduce loss ratio. One final thing is that we now have a tenant at the Industrial Park that will bring good paying jobs to Leesville." Going forward, Dowd would like to continue working toward bringing more businesses to the city. "We need to stay focused on improving our infrastructure and economic development," Dowd said. "I think we need to continue developing the north end of the city, but start paying emphasis on development along Highway 467 to Fort Polk. I believe this area has great potential and would love to see it become a new main entrance to Fort Polk."
