Harvey and Amparo have been named Grand Duke and Duchess for the 2018 Knights of Columbus King Christopher XLIII Mardi Gras.

Harvey and Amparo have been married for 33 years and have one son, Harvey G. Werner. Harvey is a longtime member of St. Michael’s Church and Amparo has been a member of St. Michael’s Church for 33 years. Together, they have taught junior and high school CCD and adult bible studies and currently have the New Members welcome Ministry in which they welcome new members into St. Michaels Parish.

Harvey was born in Lake Charles, LA and is the son of Dale E and Florence Werner. He is a Graduate of Leesville High School and from Northwestern State University of Louisiana. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force and is currently the owner-proprietor of Manufacturer’s Distributing Co, a wholesale company which services West Central, La.

Amparo is originally for Bogota, Colombia; she is a graduate of the Pontifical Xavier University in Bogota Colombia and also has a teaching certification degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA.

She was employed as a Spanish Teacher by the Vernon Parish school system for 26 years. She is currently teaching at Faith Training Christian Academy.

Amparo established the Hispanic Honor Society in Vernon Parish and was a past president of Western and Northern LA chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. She also was nominated and accepted into Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
