An episode of “On the Case with Paula Zahn” is set to feature the case dealing with the brutal murder of Karen Eads Hill who was abducted and murdered in 1988. Her body was discovered by police near Highway 10 in the Kisatchie National Forest in November of that year.
The program reached out to Vernon Parish Sheriff Sam Craft last fall to arrange interviews for the episode.
Craft allowed television crews to film inside the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO).
District Attorney Asa Skinner was interviewed for the show as well.
Retired VPSO Detectives Kenneth "Kenny" Williams and Marvin Hilton were interviewed by Paula Zahn personally. The program arranged for the former detectives to fly to New York City for the interview.
The episode will feature these exclusive new interviews with VPSO Detectives who worked on the case, as well as interviews from Hill’s family members.
The episode will follow the investigation through the 1997 arrest and conviction of Samuel Galbraith.
Detectives used DNA analysis in the case as evidence that led to the arrest of Galbraith.
Galbraith was charged with 1st Degree Murder, but entered a plea deal for Manslaughter and Attempted Aggravated Rape. He was sentenced to 71 years in the Louisiana Department of Corrections.
However, Galbraith was paroled in November 2016. The conditions of his parole prevent him from contacting Hill’s family or entering the state of Louisiana until the year 2032.
The episode will also review the murders of Pamela Miller and Tammy Call, both of whom were from Leesville.
Exclusive interviews with their respective families will be featured during the broadcast.
This local episode of “On the Case with Paula Zahn” will air at 9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11 on the Investigative Discovery Channel.
