Master Sergeant Magdaleno M. Guzman enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 in 1957.

His first tour of duty was in Germany where he stayed for two years. His second tour took him to Korea. Guzman came to Fort Polk in 1962 and three years later his company got orders to Vietnam. When he returned to Fort Polk, he joined the Louisiana NG. He was the first sergeant for the 199th Support Battalion. Guzman later transferred to the 415th Military Intel B Company. “It was an honor to serve my country,” he stated. Guzman has been married for 38 years to his wife Sheilla. They have eight children, 18 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
