A Pitkin man has been arrested on charges of second degree cruelty to juveniles and domestic abuse battery.

The Rapides Parish Sheriff Department was contacted Feb. 9 by the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services in reference to a possible child abuse matter they were investigating.

Deputies took the initial report and the investigation was turned over to detectives for further investigation.

According to the initial report, the victim claimed to have been injured, causing marks to the skin.

The juvenile victim was removed from the residence and treated for the injuries. Through their investigation, detectives were able to determine probable cause existed and supported the allegations.

A warrant was obtained by detectives for the arrest of the suspect, identified as Colt Quinton Brandon, 34, of Pitkin.

Brandon on April 4 was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center on the charges of second degree cruelty to juveniles and domestic abuse battery.

He was released later that day on $1,500 bond.

Detectives say their investigation is still ongoing.
