New Llano resident Joseph C. Cormier was born in 1943 in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana.
He joined the United States Army in 1962.
While on active duty, Cormier served one tour in Vietnam during which he earned three medals. During his career in the military he has received many accolades and awards. He retired from the Army in 1992 as Master Sergeant.
Cormier has been a member of the American Legion for 21 years.
He has been a practicing Catholic for 78 years total with 33 of those years attending Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Leesville.
Cormier has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 19 years.
He and his wife Ruth Marie have been married for 56 years. Together they have three daughters – Melissa, Antionella (Shelley), and Jannease and three son-in-laws and seven grandchildren.
Cormier is a fan of the New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, Southern University, LSU and the LA Lakers. He listens to jazz and zydeco music and loves to cook breakfast for his grandchilden.
