Two principals, one from Vernon and one from Beauregard Parish, have recently been recognized as 2019 Louisiana Principal of the Year semi-finalists.

Recognized by Dream Teachers, Merryville High School Principal Donnie Love, Jr. and Rosepine High School Principal Johnny Bosley and were both surprised on Wednesday with the announcement of their state semi-finalist position for Principal of the Year.

The Louisiana Department of Education recognizes that great teachers and school leaders are critical to student success.

Annually, the Department, in partnership with Dream Teachers and the Louisiana Association of Principals, recognizes and celebrates the some of the state’s most exceptional educators through the Teacher and Principal of the Year programs.

These programs aim to acknowledge those teachers and leaders who are making exceptional gains with students. Their commitment to student success exemplifies Louisiana’s teaching profession.

This year, over 75 hiring authorities submitted nominations for Teachers and Principals of the Year.
All Teacher and Principal of the Year semi-finalists and finalists will be honored at the 12th Annual Cecil J. Picard Educator Excellence Awards Gala on Friday, July 27 at the Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge. The event is co-sponsored by Dream Teachers.
