An Anacoco High School student has been awarded an Emerson National Scholarship.

Kelen Kay is among 30 recipients of the scholarship awarded annually to children of Emerson employees. She is the daughter of Helen V. Kay, materials team supervisor/scheduler at Commercial and Residential Solutions, Alliance Compressors in Natchitoches.

Winners, selected from among 73 finalists, were announced this week by James E. Jones, Emerson Vice President Human Resources.

Kay plans to attend Northwestern State University and study nursing.

The winners of the Emerson scholarship receive $2500 per academic year for four years.

Selections are based on applicants’ academic performance, grade point average, class rank and national test scores.

Participation in school activities and community involvement are also considered in the selection process.
