FORT POLK – Freedom Fest gave soldiers, their families and community members a chance to relax and celebrate Independence Day weekend with a free concert.
3 Doors Down headlined the concert, which also featured Locash and The Molly Ringwalds, with more than 10,000 attendees, according to Fort Polk's Public Affairs Office.
3 Doors Down played through their hits, including Kryptonite, Away From The Sun, Here Without You and Loser, prior to closing the night with the 2002 hit When I'm Gone.
The band played just over an hour, before the crowd was treated to a firework display put on by Fort Polk.
The Molly Ringwalds started the event and was followed by country act LoCash, who played its hits that earned it ACM and CMT Music Awards.
Between LoCash and 3 Doors Down, Brig. Gen. Patrick Frank spoke to the crowd about the event and the weekend, before each state's flag was presented with the year it was founded, followed by a cannon.
Concert goers were able to choose between over a dozen food trucks with beer, water and other refreshments being sold, as well.
