The proceeds from Big Mike’s Ride fundraiser were presented to the Anacoco Lions Camp by Councilman John Schraven at Monday’s town council meeting. The meeting took place in the Anacoco Town Hall.
The report detailed that the $10,000 proceeds generated during the April 21 Big Mike’s Ride fundraiser will be presented to Lions Camp director Ray Cecil on Wednesday, July 4 at 5:00 p.m. at the Anacoco Lions Camp.
The Big Mike’s Ride for the Kids fundraiser is headed by the Brothers Keepers Motorcycle Club and the American Legion Riders.
The past fundraiser held on April 21 was their second annual fundraiser. The group helped raise $10,000 in proceeds for the Anacoco Lions Camp.
“It’s named after Big Mike, Mayor Rick Allen’s brother, because of his passion for helping the kids,” Councilman John Schraven said. “We all knew him, and being able to do things like this in his name I think means a lot to the community. It helps keep his spirit and his generosity alive.
“We raised $6,000 last year, and we were able to come together and raise $10,000 this year. This is our second annual ride, so we’re hoping that in the years to come we can do better and better.”
The Brothers Keepers and American Legion Riders Post 145 will be lining up at 4 p.m along 292 L. Beaurford Dr. in front of the Lions Camp, and a check will be presented to Camp director Ray Cecil at 5 p.m.
