Three local residents were arrested Tuesday in a counterfeit check investigation.

Kristin Ann Kenneway, 47, of Fort Polk, Mark Edward Kidder II, 35, of Merryville, and Jared Heath Woofter, 29, of DeRidder, and were arrested as the result of a Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation into counterfeit checks being used at area businesses.

Woofter was charged with one count of monetary instrument abuse and criminal conspiracy. His bond was set at $2,500 on the monetary instrument abuse.

Woofter’s bond has not been set on the conspiracy charge.

A detainer has been placed on him by the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole.

Woofter remains in the VPSO jail.

Kenneway was charged with one count of monetary instrument abuse, one count of criminal conspiracy and one outstanding bench warrant for failure to appear in court. Her bond was set at $2,500 on the monetary instrument abuse. No bond has been set on the bench warrant or the conspiracy charge.

Kenneway remains in the VPSO jail.

Kidder was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a firearm or carrying of a concealed weapon by a felon and one count of drug paraphernalia.

Kidder’s bond was set at $12,000. He remains in the VPSO jail.

Additional arrests are expected.
