Let me take a minute to introduce you to our new Editor, Lauren Blankenship,
When she left for college five years ago, your new Beauregard Daily News editor did not plan to return. But now she is glad she did.

Since her departure from her hometown of DeRidder, Lauren Blankenship has been roughing it on the bayou of Thibodaux at Nicholls State University.

After changing her major about six times, she found her calling – or what high school English teacher Melinda Shirley would have called her "destiny" – in the English department.

Lauren earned her degree in English with a concentration in film studies. She found her love of writing and reading in English, American and Russian Literature courses.

She knew that after college, finding her dream job would be a struggle – there are not exactly a lot of editor jobs out there waiting for recent college graduates.

Upon moving back to DeRidder, Blankenship threw her hat into the ring for the open editor position at the Beauregard Daily News.

She asked, she received, and we are excited to have her be a part of your local paper.

Lauren is now working with what she considers the best group of people: the community that raised her.

Lauren is excited to be the new editor for your local newspaper. She is excited to grow, learn and excel.

And she is excited to be home.

If you see Lauren out and about help welcome her back to town.
