Monday was a non-official holiday in the state, marking the first day of football practice in the state of Louisiana.

Teams that participated in spring practices are unable to start until next week, but for Leesville and other high schools in the Vernon Parish, Monday allowed the athletes to start putting in work.

The Wampus Cats went through drills and ran through plays at the Leesville Lions Camp coming off an 10-2 season.

Football jamborees begin on August 23 and the first games start on August 30.
