Firefighters and the Kisatchie National Forest Service continue their efforts in containing the Kisatchie Hills Wilderness forest fire.

Numerous firefighters and equipment have been assigned to containing the fire.

A helicopter has also been assigned to the fire, making routine water drops to keep it from spreading.

At this current time, the fire is small and not growing in size.

The current incident objectives include providing for public and firefighter safety, protecting private residences and timber lands and containing the fire within a small area in Kisatchie Hills Wilderness.

The Kisatchie Hills Wilderness and associated recreation sites and trails remain closed at this time.

The public is asked to drive with caution and to be aware of emergency vehicles staged along the Longleaf Trail National Scenic Byway.

Recreation sites and trails located outside of Kisatchie Hills Wilderness will remain open to the public.
