Calla Anderson, 13, of Leesville has kept busy this summer by winning cycling competitions. This past weekend, Anderson won the USA Cycling Junior (under 18) Girls Road Race & Criterium District Championships.
Anderson shared what it was like to win the race and what she sees for herself in the future of bicycling.

"I just started bike racing, so I didn't know what to expect, but it was awesome to win and also beat most of the boys. I seem to be pretty good at this, so hopefully next summer I can go to the US Cycling Championships and race the best from around the country." Anderson shared.

The race was a part of the Capitol City Classic out of Jackson, Mississippi and served as the combined state championship for the Lousiana and Mississippi district.

Anderson took part in the 16-mile long course that made a loop around the downtown area of the city.

Anderson is currently holding all three District Junior Road Cycling titles, having won the District Time Trial championship in May out of Laplace, LA.

Anderson is the daughter of William and Billie Anderson of Kurthwood. She is homeschooled and along with cycling, she swims for LC SwimCats in Pineville.
