The Mayor's Women’s Commission announced their August Clean City Community Spirit award.
Gerald and Melynda Hill of Leesville won the residential award and Leesville City Hall won the business award.
“This is a project coordinated by the Mayor’s Women’s Commission to encourage community cleanliness to promote city beautification.” Sonny Harrell, City Clerk of Leesville said.
Each month the Mayor’s Women’s Commission committee members choose one residential and one business property that embodies the goal of keeping the city of Leesville beautiful and clean.
“After the selection, they are awarded certificates and photo op for the paper. The recipients are given yard signs to place in their yards for a month.” Harrell said.
The Clean City Spirit award along with the goal of city beautification is a project that had been going on for more than 20 years.
Each winner receives a certificate and sign to place in their yard for the month.
Lawns are judged on their cleanliness, how groomed they are and the flowers and greenery in the yard.
