If you have a sweet tooth or a child who loves sweets, there is a new store open in Leesville that will make your heart sing.

Hard Candy Lane and Carnival Hut is now open for business in Leesville at 1506 South Fifth Street. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays but is open from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. the rest of the week.

The shop’s owner, Michelle Beabout, says the idea for Hard Candy Lane and Carnival Hut was born from the locals' love for fair food and Leesville’s need for a candy store.

“We needed something different in Leesville,” Beabout said. “Everyone just goes to the fairs for the fair foods, so we figured, why not have fair foods all year round.”

“There are no candy stores nearby and the joy of seeing all of the little kids come in is priceless.” Beaubout continued.

The candy store offers a full menu of fair classics like burgers, nachos and gumbo.

The store is a family project with Beabout’s mother, aunt, uncle and grandmother all a part of the operation.

Beaubout says as of now the shop doesn’t have any chocolate to offer, but will very soon.

In the meantime, the shop is offering delicious funnel cakes and an assortment of different candy and carnival foods.

The shop is open for breakfast and lunch and will always have plenty of sweets on hand.
