The Muscular Dystrophy Association is teaming with Vernon Parish Firefighters to raise awareness and money to save children and families from the continued harm that muscular dystrophy, ALS and all other related diseases that weaken muscular strength and mobility.

The Departments involved in the campaign will be standing along the major roads and intersections of Vernon Parish with a boot in hand, ready to accept donations from the citizens of Vernon Parish.

The departments enlisted to help with the fundraiser are as follows:

Pitkin

Rosepine

Leesville

Simpson

Anacoco, Hornbeck, Sandy Creek, Dry Fork

Slagle

Sandy Hill

New Llano

The proceeds from the 2018 Fill the Boot campaign will be used to provide families and individuals struggling with muscular dystrophy and other muscular related diseases with the resources and support they need, including a Care Center at the Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA.

The proceeds will also give 100 children the chance to spend a week at the MDA Summer Camp at Camp Starlite in Pollock, Louisiana.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the many roads and intersections that cross Vernon Parish, so be on the lookout for a boot to fill.
