The Leesville offense got rolling early while the defense dominated as it defeated Westlake to stay perfect on the year.
The Wampus Cats had two players run for over 100 yards in its 35-7 win Friday night at Westlake High School.
In the first quarter, quarterback Jacob Mount hit tight end Noah Allain for a 50-yard touchdown pass to get Leesville out to a 7-0 lead.
Wampus Cat running back Darius Sawyer ran in a 24-yard touchdown to increase the Leesville lead to 14-0 in the second, but Westlake answered with a 1-yard run to make the score 14-7.
Later in the second, Sawyer found the end zone again, this time returning a punt 70 yards to put Leesville up 21-7 at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, Leesville busted the game open with two scores – a 5-yard run by Jalen Shepherd and 1-yard run by D'ante Gallashaw – to pull away for the 35-7 win.
Shepard racked up 125 yards on 14 carries, while Gallashaw recorded 106 yards on 11 carries.
Sawyer did damage with the carries he got, rushing for 83 yards on four touches.
Mount finished the game 6-for-10 for 54 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
The Wampus Cats are back in action at 7 p.m. Friday night at home as they take on Pineville.
