Mark your calendars for Nov. 8 as Fort Polk rolls out the red carpet to pay honor to our veterans. The event is for all of our veterans, but a special welcome home is planned for Vietnam veterans.

The event begins at 10 a.m. at the 1st Battalion, 5th Aviation Regiment hangar. Vietnam veterans will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Bayou Theater. Buses will transport them to the ceremony. Families will be asked to meet their Vietnam veteran at the hangar after the ceremony is complete. All other veterans will go directly to the hangar.

To pay tribute to our Vietnam veterans, the Fort Polk Public Affairs Office would like to talk to a few Vietnam combat veterans who are willing to share their stories for both print and video articles. The stories will appear in the installation newspaper, sent to area media, and posted on the JRTC and Fort Polk Face book page. Our veterans have stories to tell -- we need to hear, listen, remember and share.

More details about the Nov. 8 will be released as available. Vietnam vets interested in sharing their experiences should call Kim Reischling, PAO, at (337) 531-1392.
