The Pickering offense put up a season-high in points but it was not enough to knock off Ville Platte.

Pickering quarterback DeShawn Jackson threw for 108 yards in his first start, but the Red Devils fell to Bulldogs 29-20 Friday night on the road.

Jackson was 5-for-11 through the air and ran eight times for 36 yards.

Ville Platte took a 14-0 lead into halftime, but Pickering cut into the lead with 30-yard run by Greg Jones to make it 14-8.

The Bulldogs answered with a touchdown and a two-point conversion to expand the deficit to 22-8.

In the fourth quarter, Jackson hit Evan Fernandez for a 69-yard touchdown to make it 22-14, then Jackson ran it on from 11 yards out on the next drive to make it 22-20.

Ville Platte ran for two runs over 20 yards then ran in the 3-yard touchdown on its last drive to make it a two-score game and seal the win.

Pickering is back in action next week as it takes on the Dragons at DeRidder High School.
