The DeRidder Police Department (DPD) captured an inmate who escaped from prison on Thursday.

Michael Moss escaped from jail in Sulphur on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at around 10 a.m.  It is being reported Moss was allegedly able to manipulate the fence in the prison’s recreation yard.

At the time of his escape, Moss was being held on an aggravated assault charge from Ascension Parish.

Sulphur Police Chief Lewis Coats has announced that an investigation is being launched into Moss’ escape.

Moss’ criminal history spans multiple states such as  Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.

His charges range from operating a vehicle while intoxicated, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, possession of marijuana, fraudulent checks and probation violations.
