Leesville JAG students give back to community during holidays

Leesville High School JAG students were trained by the Gates students on how to make lap blankets. The Gates Program supplied all the materials. The Gates Program received funding through the support of a grant from the Louisiana Service Commission of the Lt. Governor’s Office. Here, all of the JAG students pause for a photo.

Leesville High School JAG (Jobs for America's Graduates) students recently learned what it felt like to give back to the community and to help children in need. Friday, December 10, 2010 JAG students collected toys for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for the Christmas Project Wish List.  Each class adopted a foster child, and classmates put their funds together to fulfill that child’s wish list. CASA Director Gayle Hodnett, and advocates Tommy Edwards, and Illa Cook spoke to the students, and thanked them for their hard work, commending them for valuing the importance of helping others. Students who participated were: Jacob Allison, Shannon Bouya, Brian Covington, Bianca Dominguez, Cody Lefort, Robert Mace, Deneadra Mark, Anthony McWhorter, Trexy Ramos, Sarah Sablay, Tashea Williams, Jasmine Wright, DeJanae Acey, JeVal Chancey, Jordan Creasey, Annalysse Garrison, Kanitra Henderson, Chasidy Hicks, Christopher Hollis, Desiree Jackson, Dreyone Jenkins, Adrianna Johnson, Randi Kennedy, Danielle McCord, Tiffany Wallace, Bailey Williams, Tessa Bacon, Dustin Davis, Virginia Poll, Ashley Sanders, Demetris Burnett, Elexus Featherstone, Tea Gibson, Taylor Hallums, Ashley Lanter, Jordan Lewis, Brittany Matthews, Kierra Mitchell, Eterika Robinson, MyTarius Thomas, Edward Powell, and sponsor Alice Guess.
JAG students also spent time learning how to make and then distributing lap blankets.
