Leesville Police Department announces 2011 statistics

The Leesville Police Department has announced its statistics for the 2011 year in relation to complaints, arrests and traffic citations.
According to the department, officers responded to 6,823 calls. Those calls included:
-830 general traffic complaints
-762 disturbances
-741 hit-and-run traffic accidents
-686 alarms
-553 welfare checks and other calls for assistance
-542 calls in reference to suspicious behavior and noises
-487 thefts
-399 animal calls
-244 property damage including criminal trespass
-218 medical emergencies, including natural deaths and suicides
-217 warrants
-173 harrasments
-146 juvenile incidents
-138 alcohol-related incidents
-86 drug-related complaints
-85 burglaries and robberies
-74 911 hang ups
-69 assault and batteries
-67 fire-related calls
-39 shooting and weapon-related charges
-30 officer-needs-assistance calls, which included assistance provided to other agencies
-19 sex-related crimes
-19 missing persons
-18 fireworks calls
-11 child abuse calls
-4 hostage situation
-and 166 miscellaneous calls.
The police department reports that the calls responded in 1,356 incident reports, 752 arrests and roughly 370 crash reports. The department also issued 2,184 traffic citations.
The department also reports that actual criminal offenses investigated and offenses related to arrests may differ from the initial complaints.
