Brown arrested again
Laci J. Brown, 29, of Leesville was arrested August 3 for stealing checks. She was previously arrested in June with three others on four counts of theft.
A Vernon Parish resident reported the theft of checks to the sheriff's office on July 22. The checks had been removed from the checkbook without the owner’s knowledge or consent. After the owner’s signature was forged on the checks, they were taken to local credit union where they were allegedly presented as a deposit by Brown.
Brown was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail with a bond of $95,000.
While incarcerated, she was also charged with introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. Brown’s bond on this incident was set at an additional $3,500.
Leesville man arrested on multiple charges
An investigation into the theft of two cattle guards and an undisclosed amount of scrap iron has led to the arrest of a Leesville man, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
David L. Phillips, 48, was arrested for criminal trespass, theft and principal to theft. The stolen items had been removed from locations in Vernon Parish without the permission of the owners and taken to Jasper, Texas and sold.
The sheriff's office had arrested Michael Dale Jeane, 44, of Evans on July 16 for theft and criminal trespass, also in connection to this case.
Phillips bond was set at $2,000.
Fairground fight leads to four arrests
A disturbance on August 3 has resulted in the arrest of four, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the Vernon Parish Fairgrounds where several people were involved in a loud verbal dispute. Deputies were unable to end the dispute, and so arrested John Marshall, 18, of Anacoco; Barry Smith, 27, of Leesville; Megan Smith, 22, of Leesville; and Dallas J. Cox, 19, of Ft. Polk.
Each was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail with a bond set at $213.50 each.
Oakdale woman arrested on theft
An Oakdale woman was arrested for simple burglary and theft in connection to a theft at a home on Methodist Landing Road in July, reports the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
Lois I. Worfel, 54, was charged after an investigation that was sparked by the homeowner, who was out of town at the time of the theft and reported the crime upon returning home. Worfel’s bond was set at $25,000.
Argument over cable box leads to three arrests
Three were arrested August 3 after a physical altercation involving a cable box at a mobile home park, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office.
Kenny Bonds, 38; Angela Bonds, 27;; and Shanna Soriano, 31, allegedly argued over a cable box that had been loaned from one person to the other. The argument escalated with the three becoming involved in a physical altercation. Each was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail with a bond set at $213.50.
