The Leesville Police Department recently launched its website, which will allow community members to access a variety of public safety information.
Users can pay their tickets, view a current list of inmates at the city jail and view announcements concerning upcoming events.
"The chief of police is really enthusiastic about bringing our department to the 21st century," said Sgt. Gary Scott, with the departments criminal investigation unit, who also directs the website.
"With the technoloy that's available, we're doing everything we can to make sure we keep up," he added. "That benefits not only the officers here, but it tremendously benefits the community."
The website features each division of the department, including a description of the responsibilities of each.
The inmate list, which is updated at 8 a.m. every morning, includes the full name of each current inmate as well as the charges and the bond amount.
In addition, area residents can not only see messages from Chief Bobby Hickman and Deputy Chief Tom Scott, but also send each direct email.
An email tip line, which can be 100 percent anonymous, provides residents a quick and easy way to send information to the police department. The most wanted section provides residents with a photo and a description of Leesville's most wanted criminals, while a map provides routing information to the station from anywhere.
Links include DARE's official website, the civil service board, and more coming soon, such as a link to the Federal Trade Commission website for victims of identity theft.
The website address is www.leesvillepd.org.
