Saturday morning, two Pitkin residents were killed in a two-vehicle crash.
Lucinda Williamson, 27 and Joseph Musselwhite, 31, both of Pitkin, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on La. Hwy. 463 in the Pitkin area.
Around 8 a.m., troopers responded to the crash, which involved a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, driven by Rebecca L. Johnson, 46, of Pitkin and a 2001 Ford pickup driven by Musselwhite.
Johnson was south bound on Hwy. 463 when her vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the Ford, which was north bound.  After this initial collision, the Ford exited the roadway, collided with two trees, overturned, and became engulfed in flames.
Musselwhite and one passenger of the Ford were trapped inside the vehicle.
Johnson was wearing her seatbelt and received minor injuries.  She was transported to Byrd Hospital for treatment.
Jennifer Perkins of Pitkin, and two juveniles were also in Musselwhite’s vehicle at the time of the crash.  All three received moderate injuries. Two were transported to Cabrini Hospital and one was transported to Rapides General Hospital.
Musselwhite nor any of his passengers were wearing seatbelts or in child restraints.
Routine toxicology tests are pending.  The crash remains under investigation.
