Everyone is invited to the annual Fall Art Festival at Hodges Gardens State Park set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.
A fun-filled day is planned to showcase regional artists and musicians, with a special Veteran’s Day appearance by the Color Guard from Fort Polk to honor our nation’s veterans and kick off the festival.
Shreveport wildlife artist Don Edwards will have his work on display and Louisiana Craft Guild member Emma Hughes will provide demonstrations in basket making.
Also scheduled to appear are Louisiana Music Hall of Fame member Ken Cardino; Sabine Parish native and Calvary Baptist Church worship leader Buster Jordan; Negreet native and lead singer for God’s Country gospel band Russell Peace; Pioneer Pub and Natchitoches Main Street musician Chris Wagley; and award winning harpist Harmony Minturn from Natchitoches. Members of the Vernon Parish Community Orchestra will be playing throughout the gardens. Musicians are encouraged to bring stringed instruments and join in at the cedar stump Picker’s Circle located at the entrance to the new Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom.
The Kid’s Corner will be set up with craft projects for kids to enjoy, along with face painting and the Goof Troop Clowns. Belly dancers will perform in the Old Fashioned Garden.
The Friends of Hodges Gardens State Park will be selling food and refreshments to raise money to help fund events next year in the park.
Regular admission applies, $5 per person, $4 for seniors 62+, and children under 3 are free. State park annual pass holders are always free, and in honor of Veteran’s Day, all active duty and retired military will be admitted free.
