Florien, La. -

A Florien police officer was pronounced dead Saturday, August 8, as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August, 11, for Jonah Larche, 20, whose body was found in his vehicle Saturday afternoon by a fellow Florien officer.
"This is hard for everyone," said Sabine Parish Chief Deputy Travis Bennett.
According to Bennett, the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office received a call at approximately 4 p.m. from the officer who discovered Larche's body.
Larche's vehicle was found parked just off of Union Church Road outside of the Village of Florien. He was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the gunshot wound.
Larche was one of the youngest officers on the Florien police force and had worked for the department for 18 months.
"He was a fine young man and a fine officer," said police chief Herman Love. "I love him and will miss him."
In addition to being a police officer, Larche was also a volunteer fire fighter.
He was off-duty at the time of the incident.
