Members of FedEx Freight delivered 400 Christmas trees to Fort Polk soldiers and families on Dec. 13 as part of the Christmas SPIRIT Foundation Trees for Troops Program.
Included in the event on Dec. 13 was a delivery to Pfc. Ethan Courter, from the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, whose father, Mark, is an employee of FedEx Freight. Ethan Courter was injured while stationed in Afghanistan when his vehicle drove over an improvised explosive device. He spent a month in Brooks Army Hospital in San Antonio before he was released back to his unit. He received the Purple Heart award upon his return.
“These trees are only a small token of appreciation for the untold individual sacrifices of our military service men and women,” Mark Courter said. “Hopefully, they will be a reminder of the goodness of the Christmas holiday spirit for these soldiers.”
FedEx Freight delivered over 18,000 trees to more than 60 military bases across the country through the Trees for Troops program. Since its inception in 2005, the Trees for Troops program has donated nearly 100,000 live Christmas trees to military personnel and their families.
