Terence Williams and Elizabeth Anne Beinkemper have been selected to serve on the 2009 Leesville Knights of Columbus Council Mardi Gras Court.
Williams came to Leesville in the spring of 2007 with an philosophy and very little knowledge of Vernon Parish. In two seasons as the head football coach at Leesville High School, Williams has compiled a record of 16-7, has captured two straight District 3-4A championships and led the Wampus Cats to two straight trips to the Class 4A playoffs.
And he and his wife, Carla, and son T.J., have settled into life in Vernon Parish.
Williams is a native of Baton Rouge and graduated from Belaire High School in 1989. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in general studies from Louisiana State University in 1997 and completing some of his undergraudate work at Kentucky State University. He received his M.S. in Sports Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss., in 2002.
Following several stops as an assistant coach in the Baton Rouge area at schools such as Christian Life and University High, Williams broke in as a head coach at Jackson High School in 2000.
He left Louisiana in 2003 for an assistant position at North Shore High School in Houston, where he was part of the Class 5A Texas State champions. He went on to coach at Channelview High and Baytown Lee before applying for the head position in Leesville.
In just two short years, Williams turned Leesville into an offensive juggernaut. This past season, the Cats were ranked in the top 5 of the Class 4A polls the entire season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs before losing on the road at Zachary. LHS ended the year with a 10-2 record.
Three players off his 2008 team signed National Letters of Intent two weeks ago to play at Division I-A colleges: Michael Ford (LSU), Travante Stallworth (Auburn) and Cassetti Brown (Louisiana Tech).
Williams was named District 3-4A Coach of the Year in both of his seasons at LHS, in addition to being named Vernon Parish Coach of the Year in 2007. Under his guidance, the Cats' offense in 2008 led the state of Louisiana in yards per game and was fourth in total yards.
In addition to the players he has coached in Leesville, Williams also once coached professional athletes Michael Clayton (Tampa Bay Bucs), Stephan LeFors (Carolina Panthers), Terrell Browden (Cleveland Browns) and Glen "Big Baby" Davis (Boston Celtics).
Williams is a member of the American Football Coaches Association (High School Committee Member) and the Louisiana Football Coaches Association (Board of Director).
Elizabeth Anne Beinkemper has been selected as a Maid for the Knights of Columbus Council Mardi Gras Court.
Beinkemper is a 2008 graduate of Anacoco High School, was a varsity cheerleader for four years and served as the team captain.
She was also active in 4-H, Leo, Character Counts, Future Business Leaders of America and Students Against Destructive Disorders. She actively volunteered in the CCD and other religious programs at St. Michael Archangel Catholic Church where she is a member.
Beinkemper is currently a freshman at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and is majoring in speech pathology. She is an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority.
She likes to spend her spare time with her brother and friends.
She is the daughter of James and Betty Beinkemper, the sister of James H. Beinkember and the granddaughter of  Carla and the late James A. Beinkemper Sr. of Destin Fla., and Howard and Betty Bellamy of Anacoco.
The annual Mardi Gras Ball will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21.
