Baghdad, Iraq -

Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldiers responded to explosions in the Rusafa area of Baghdad Sept. 15.
At approximately 11:50 a.m., Soldiers with the 5th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Brigade, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, responded to two possible vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices that exploded near Joint Security Station Babil killing an Iraqi Army soldier and five local residents, and wounding 27 other local residents in the blast.
"We currently assess this heinous atrocity as an al-Qaeda in Iraq attack," said Lt. Col. Steve Stover, spokesman, 4th Infantry Division and MND-B. "Though we are still investigating, it is apparent that those responsible care nothing about the Iraqi people, peace or stability. This is a failed attempt to break the will of a resilient and courageous populace."

Criminals Detained
National Police officers and Soldiers from 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light), Multi-National Division - Baghdad, detained four suspected Special Group criminals in eastern Baghdad, Sept. 21.
Policemen from 2nd Battalion, 8th Brigade, 2nd National Police Division and their U.S. Soldier partners from 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment detained the suspected criminals during an operation at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the Beladiyat area of New Baghdad.
"These detentions will make Iraqi citizens safer on the streets and in their homes," said Maj. Joey Sullinger, spokesperson, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light). "As we transition to over watching Iraqi Security Forces conducting more of these missions, operations such as these prove ISF are capable and committed to capturing criminals."
