The state police report that a crash involving two vehicles killed a teenager and a child from Leesville late Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers responded to the crash around 4:45 p.m. on La. 28 at La. 121.
A 2003 Toyota pickup, driven by Cody J. Marshall, 17, was north bound on LA 121, then turned west bound on LA 28 in the east bound lanes. After traveling a short distance, the Toyota turned right into the west bound lanes of La. 28 and was attempting to enter La. 121 north bound when a west bound 2000 Western Star (18-wheeler), driven by William F. Duck, 43, of Lincoln, Ala. collided with it.
Cody J. Marshall was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. Jaden Marshall, 9, was pronounced dead at the scene. Marshall’s only other passenger was a male juvenile, 15, of Leesville. He received moderate injuries and was transported to Rapides Regional Medical Center. None of the occupants of the Toyota were wearing their seatbelts.
Duck was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured.
Routine toxicology tests are pending. The crash remains under investigation.
