The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles began phasing in a new vehicle registration certificate Aug. 16. All Office of Motor Vehicle locations will be utilizing the new registration certificate by Sept. 1. In an effort to make the transition as easy as possible for everyone involved, samples of the new versions of the approved registration certificates will be included along with a guide to reading and understanding the new forms.
“Public Safety Services is constantly searching for ways to implement cost savings in our operations because we have a duty to provide increased levels of efficiency throughout our agency. I am personally committed to improving customer service, and the redesign of the motor vehicle registration certificate is just one more example of Public Safety employees improving the delivery of those services," said Colonel Michael Edmonson, Deputy Security of the Department of Public Safety.
The large forms presently utilized on new vehicle registrations will still be carried in vehicles until renewals are completed, but new vehicle registrations of the smaller size will be issued, as the new printers are placed in offices statewide. Pilot offices in Baton Rouge and Baker began issuing the new forms on Aug. 16. The new system, provided by 3M/ITI, will provide a better tracking system for all vehicle transactions, which will facilitate better audit controls and cost efficiency.
