Magale Recital Hall and the upstairs Orville Hanchey Art Gallery at Northwestern State University are both getting some touch-up work.
The Recital Hall is getting new carpet. Handrails are being added to assist concertgoers getting up and down the stairs. A new curtain and lighting system were also recently installed. Magale Recital Hall is one of the most heavily used venues at Northwestern State hosting concerts, recitals, classes and university and community events on more than 300 days a year.
“Magale Recital Hall will look much nicer and more inviting to those who enjoy using it,” said Bill Brent, director of the Mrs. H.D. Dear Sr. and Alice E. Dear School of Creative and Performing Arts. “Having the best possible concert hall is important to the musicians, vocalists and others who are on the stage. This work will help us continue providing the best possible educational experience for our students.”
Hanchey Gallery is getting new carpeting and wall surfacing. The art galleries at Northwestern State host exhibits by students and guest artists year-round.
