Funeral services for Joseph Walker Speight, 66, of Leesville will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. The burial will follow in the Evans Cemetery in Evans. Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the funeral home.

Joseph passed away Monday, Aug. 4 at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville. 

He was born in Evans; he was a life long resident of Vernon Parish. He was preceded in death by his father, J.P. Speight; his mother, Gladys Speight; his brother, James Austin Speigh't and his stepson, Gary Brinkley.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years Dallas Doreen Betterton Speight of Leesville; daughters, Barbara Drake of Jay, Maine, Shonda Jones of Leesville, Karen Pritchette of Georgetown, Texas and Jo Ann Speight of Leesville; and sister Carolyn Woodard of DeRidder.

Mr. Speight was an Air Force veteran. He enjoyed playing dominos and pool.

Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in   Leesville.

Essie Dee Monk, 83 of Leesville went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008.
Visitation was held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel with her services being held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at Hixson Funeral Home Chapel of Leesville. Burial will be held at LaCamp Cemetery, Hicks, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Minister officiating will be the Rev. James T. Byrd.
Survivors include three grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; three nephews, J.P. and wife Merlene Monk, Joe R. and wife Diane Martin and James and wife Bennie Martin; three nieces, Lajuan and husband Jim Prescott, Pam and husband Wallace Johnson and Ruby and husband Kenneth Barnes.
She was preceded in death by her son, Milton Lee Spiller; her father, Almon Monk; her mother Alma Monk Blake; her brother Horace Monk; and sisters Nezzie Monk Martin and Lydia Monk Townley.
Essie was born in Hicks to Almon and Alma Monk. She was trained at a young age by the nuns as a nurse. She worked many years in Beaumont, Texas in that profession. She had resided in Leesville since 1985 where she was a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

Funeral services for Larry Clifton Eaves, 31, of Anacoco will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6 in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Ken Dickerson officiating. The burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Hicks.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 in the funeral home. Services are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Eaves passed away Sunday, Aug. 3 in his residence in Anacoco.
He was born in Denver City, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Anacoco. He graduated from Anacoco High School. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Opal and Buford Owens and Evie and Clifton Eaves.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara and husband Jack Edwards, of Anacoco; father, Larry C. and wife Adeline Eaves, Sr. of, Woodward, Okla.; brothers, Clifton Eaves of Hobbs, N.M., John Wayne Vandiford of Republic, Mo. and Michael Eaves of Anacoco; sisters, Taina Eaves of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rhonda Kaye Manning of Wilson, Okla. and Opal Veronica Eaves of Pineville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Alice Cagle will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2008 in the Chapel of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton with Rev. Lee Perkins and Rev. Lindsey Burns officating. Burial will follow in the  Big Woods Cemetery in Vinton under the directon of Hixson.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday Aug. 6, 2008 at Hixson Funeral Home in Vinton.
Mrs.Cagle went home to be with her Lord on Aug. 3, 2008, in Leesville at the age of 96. She was born on July 9, 1912 to George Loyd and Kate Duncan in Holbert Okla.  She moved with her parents to Vinton as a small child. There she met and married her husband John Oliver Bush Cagle.  In 2003, she  moved to Leesville to be near her daughter.  She loved her Lord and was a member of First Baptist Church of DeRidder and a charter member of the Vinton Order of Eastern Star where she had served as Worthy Matron. She loved her family and was affectionaly called "Me Maw" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. While living in Vinton, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Vinton and Grace Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Oliver Bush Cagle; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors are one son and daughter-in-law, John Loyd Cagle and wife Vivian of Lake Charles; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Faircloth and husband Lewis of Anacoco; one brother, George L. Duncan and wife Janet of Bridge City, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Della Mae Duncan of West Orange, Texas and Lola Duncan of Bridge City, Texas; grandchildren, Terrell John Cagle and wife Carol of Laporte, Texas, Jena Ann Cagle of Lake Charles, Darrin Cagle and wife Rebecca of Lake Charles, Cyndi Faircloth Wilbanks and husband Sam of DeRidder, and Timothy Faircloth of
Little Rock, Ark; great grandchildren, Jennifer Jagneaux and husband Adam of Lake Charles, Johnny Lee Comeaux Jr. of Lake Charles, Abigale, Emma, and Amanda Cagle of Lake Charles. Braden and Kade Faircloth of Little Rock Ark.

Funeral services for James Alvers Johnson, 66, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder with Rev. Arlen Smith officiating.
Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Cravens under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of DeRidder.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, July 29, 2008 from 4-9 p.m. at the funeral home and will resume Wednesday, July 30, 2008, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson died Saturday, July 26, 2008, in Bandera, Texas.
He was a native of Cravens and a graduate of Pitkin High School. He lived most of his adult life in Houston and Warren, Texas. He was a true sportsman who loved fishing and hunting. He was also a member of the Houston Bass Club and Big Thicket Bass Club.
He is survived by his son, Michael (Dusty) Jeter and wife Susan Leigh of Bandera, Texas; daughters, Etta Latane Johnson and husband Steve of Dothan, Ala., and Marilyn Diane Krolczyk of Prince Frederick, Md.; brother, John P. Johnson and wife Phyllis of DeRidder; sisters, Betty J. Cunningham and husband Rickey of DeRidder, Magdalene Afeman and husband Larry Jerral of Hineston, and Kolean (Kokie) Gill and husband Ronnie of DeRidder; mother, Ezell White Johnson of DeRidder; and five grandchildren.

Lisa Ann “Auntie” Burks Felice, 45, slipped away peacefully on this Sabbath Day, July 27, 2008 to be with her Lord and Saviour.
She was surrounded by a loving group of family and friends when she departed this earth to be with other family members and friends waiting for her. She is now strolling across Heaven, free from pain and filled with love and happiness. She is awaiting the final reunion when all of her family and friends will be together once again.
Lisa was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, daughter, and sister.  She was employed by Expedited Logistics Freight of Sulphur as Office Manager. She worked tirelessly organizing benefits for family and friends when unexpected financial needs arose. Her events were successful because of her loving and creative efforts. Lisa was fulfilling a lifelong dream of writing songs for her sons, Chace and Brennon, and her sister, Nesey to sing.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Felice; two sons, Chace Roy Burks and Brennon Lee Felice both of DeRidder; a step-son, Jason R. Felice of Ragley; her mother, Betty Cryar and step-father Jim Cryar; her faithful, devoted sister, Denese “Nesey” Bailey and her husband Kelton; and two loving brothers, Steven Roy Burks and his wife, Anna, and Kelton Simmons, all of DeRidder; one step-sister, Mary Simmers and her husband Scott; and two step-brothers, Cary Cryar and his wife, Lynnette and Patrick Lee Cryar all of Baton Rouge; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her loving father, Roy Burks and step-brother, Joe Cryar.
Pallbearers will be Chace and Steven Burks, Brandon Bailey, Brennon Felice, Kelton Simmons, and Chris Stracener. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Burks, Cary Cryar, Jason Felice, Jason Moore, and Cory Perkins.
Lisa’s love for music, singing, and songwriting will live on even though she has gone.  There is no doubt that she is now singing with the angels in the presence of her Lord and Saviour.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Deridder, 487 Hwy 1147. The Rev. Dalton Isbell and Rev. Delbert Isbell will officiate with Rev. Tom Stucke delivering the eulogy.  
Burial will be in Beauregard Memorial Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until Wednesday at service time.
