MAIS Class 2A Playoffs

Prairie View has a first-round bye in the MAIS Class 2A state baseball playoffs and will begin its playoff quest the week of May 1.

Winners of 12 straight, the District 6-2A champion Spartans (23-2) received byes along with Canton, Marshall and Wayne.

Prairie View, which has not played since sweeping Union Christian 8-0 and 12-0 in an April 13 double header, awaits the Amite School Center-Newton series winner. Amite is the District 5 champ while Newton is the District 4 runner-up.

All MAIS playoff series are played under a best-of-three format.

Prairie View, Amite and Newton are in the upper half of the SouthState bracket. Wayne awaits the Glenbrook-Franklin winner in the lower half of the South State division.
