The Leesville Wampus Cats, in their first year under the direction of Robbie Bainer, won four games in district play, while also losing four.
And ironically, four Wampus Cats won first-team recognition on the all-district team from the coaches in 4-4A.
Senior Josh Kaiama, along with the junior trio of Zack Squyres, Adam Woods and Colton Honeycutt, picked up first-team honors on the District 4-4A squad.
Kaiama, a first baseman, batted .455 in district play, collecting a total of 10 hits, including a double, along with driving in seven RBIs, while Squyres, who made the team at pitcher, went 2-2 in league action with 23 strikeouts.
Squyres also played shortstop for the Wampus Cats.
Woods, who pitched and played right field for Leesville, batted .333 in district, connecting on a double and a pair of triples, while driving in five RBIs. The lefty made the team at utility.
Honeycutt, who made the team as an outfielder, batted .385 in league action with a total of 10 hits, including two doubles, a triple and 11 RBIs.
Joining Squyres as all-district pitchers were Tioga senior Brandon Lacoy and the Alexandria duo of Danny Marrazzo and Ross Harris, both seniors.
Lacoy, the District 4-4A MVP, had a 4-0 record in league play with an earned run average of 0.78. He also batted .500 with seven doubles and one home run.
Harris was 3-1 in league action for the Trojans with 26 strikeouts, while Marrazzo was 1-1 with one save and 11 strikeouts.
Kaiama was joined in the all-district infield by ASH senior catcher Cole Simpson, Grant senior Lane Noakes, ASH senior Jake Vercher and Tioga junior Joe Robbins.
Simpson batted .560 in district play with 11 RBIs, while Noakes was responsible for a .407 batting average and eight RBIs.
Vercher batted .318 for the Trojans, while Robbins had 12 hits and batted .500 in league action.
The all-district outfield was Honeycutt, Grant junior Cade Maxwell and Tioga seniors Jacob Stockton and Jack Higdon.
Stockton led the district in RBIs with 16, while batting an impressive .400 with two doubles and five triples.
Higdon had a league-high 16 hits in district play, batting .571 with eight RBIs, while Maxwell batted .388 with two doubles and two triples.
The Peabody duo of D.J. Celestine and Cedric Green joined Woods at utility, while Grant sophomore Garrett Parker was named the league’s designated hitter.
Green, a senior, batted .429 for the Warhorses, while Celestine carried a .412 batting average.
Parker batted .423 and drove in nine runs as he had six doubles in his 11 district hits.
Tioga head coach David Montiel, who prepped at Pickering High School, was again named Coach of the Year in the district.
Leesville senior Chad Parker and sophomore Walker Dillon each made second-team all-district.
Parker made the squad at third base, while Dillon is a second-team all-district outfielder.
Two more Wampus Cats earned honorable mention recognition.
Kaplan Rolon and Jared Williams each made the squad. Rolon is a sophomore, while Williams in in his junior year.
