With the Fourth of July just days away the Fireworks Superstore located on Hwy. 171 in Leesville has been busy filling all of the firework needs of the resident of Vernon Parish and beyond.
As customs go, celebrating the 4th of July with magnificent pyrotechnic displays is one of the favorite 4th of July traditions of people not just in Vernon Parish, but around the nation.
“We have been busy, but I know we will be even busier as the 4th gets closer,” said Justin Bush of the Fireworks Store located on U.S. Hwy. 171 across from Beall Animal Clinic.
Some municipalities in Vernon Parish prohibit the use of fireworks within their limits, but the Town of New Llano encourages all of their residents and residents from throughout the area to bring their pyrotechnic delights to its city park where they will be hosting the second annual 4th of July in the park.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and in a well-controlled environment residents are able to light fireworks at the park. At 10 p.m. the town’s fireworks show will begin.
There will be entertainment as well as refreshments available for purchase.
Fireworks come in all shapes, sizes and prices.
From a simple box of sparklers and Texas Pop Rockets that are purchased by the case to the Dominator which is described as having the biggest variety of color and noise.
Though celebrating with fireworks is often a fun occasion, caution should always be the main ingredient while planing your extravaganza. The following is a list of tips that can help you ensure fun for all.
• Always read and follow label directions.
• Have an adult present.

• Never give fireworks to small children.
• If necessary, store fireworks in a cool, dry place.
• Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in your trash can.
• Never throw or point fireworks at other people.
• Never carry fireworks in your pocket.
• Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers.
• The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework.
