Nineteen-year-old Maria L. Franey of Rehoboth was killed in an early morning two-vehicle crash on Route 44 in Middleboro that also injured a Plymouth woman in her car and the driver of the truck with which it collided.

A 19-year-old Rehoboth woman was killed today in an early morning crash on Route 44 that sent two others, including a Plymouth woman, to the hospital.

Police identified the victim as Maria L. Franey of 115 Winthrop St., Rehoboth. Colleen Brown, 20, of 29 Mt. Pleasant St., Plymouth, was a passenger in the car and suffered serious injuries, police said. Brown was first taken to Morton Hospital, then transported to Boston Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman listed her as being in good condition this morning.

The accident occurred at 2:36 a.m. on Route 44 at Old Centre Street in Middleboro. The car collided with a commercial truck. The driver of the truck, Karl Anthony Thomas, 32, of Hartford, Conn., was taken to Morton Hospital for treatment.

Information on how the collision occurred and the direction of travel of both vehicles was not immediately available. Middleboro police were gathering additional information as part of the ongoing investigation.
