EVANS — Seniors Elijah McClintock and Rico Garcia combined for 34 points to lead the Evans Eagles to a 45-42 victory over the Singer Hornets on Tuesday night.
Evans (2-1) and Singer (1-2) were tied at 8-8 at the end of the first period, but the Hornets managed to outscore the Eagles by three points in the second quarter, moving out to a 22-19 lead at the halftime intermission.
In the third, Evans came to life, outscoring the Hornets by four points to move out to a 1-point lead by the end of the frame, 31-30.
The Eagles held on in the fourth to secure their second straight victory.
McClintock led the way for the Eagles with 23 points and nine rebounds, while Garcia contributed 11 points to the cause.
Jordan Pickering paced Singer with 15 points.

CONVERSE — The Converse Wildcats won their first game of the season on Tuesday, knocking off the visiting Pitkin Tigers in a close one, 57-56.
Converse (1-2) jumped out to a 12-9 lead at the end of the first quarter of play and outscored the Tigers (3-2), 14-11, over the next eight minutes to open up a 6-point cushion at the break, 26-20.
Pitkin attempted to rally back in the third and managed to whittle the deficit to one point heading into the final frame of play, 37-36.
However, Converse was able to hold on to get the win.
Kyle Wallace led Converse with 19 points, while Jonah Williams and Dillon Paddie finished with 14 and nine points, respectively.
Jake Deason paced Pitkin with 19 points, while Blane Perkins chipped in with 14 points.

CONVERSE — The Converse Lady Wildcats got a 27-point outing from hot-shooting guard Kayla Boggs in a 56-51 victory over the Pitkin Lady Tigers on Tuesday night.
Converse (2-1) took advantage of a slow start by Pitkin (0-3), moving out to a 12-4 lead at the end of the first eight minutes. In the second period, the Lady Wildcats used a 17-13 scoring advantage to go into the break with a 29-17 edge.
The Lady Wildcats added to their lead in the third quarter with a 12-11 scoring advantage, going into the fourth period with a 41-28 lead.
Pitkin made a serious run during the fourth period, outscoring homestanding Converse, 23-15. But it wasn't enough as the Lady Wildcats got the win.
Kristyn Craig had 17 points in support of Boggs in the Lady Wildcats' victory.
LaQuista Doyle led Pitkin with 17 points, while seventh-grader Amber McCallon was in double figures with 10 points.

Elizabeth Lady Bulldogs.....65

ELIZABETH — A quick opening burst, followed by a solid second half allowed the Elizabeth Lady Bulldogs to get their first win of the season on Tuesday with a 65-33 victory over the Simpson Lady Broncos.
Elizabeth (1-3) worked out to a 23-10 lead at the end of the first period, but managed just eight points in the second quarter. However, the Lady Bulldogs were still up on Simpson (0-3) by a score of 31-21 at the break.
But in the second half, Elizabeth scored 17 points in both the third and the fourth quarters to pull away for the win.
All-stater Landie Maddox had 26 points to pace Elizabeth, while Taylor Gates and Courtney Maricle added 14 and 11 points, respectively.
Alexis Thompson paced Simpson with 11 points.

EVANS — The Singer Lady Hornets remained undefeated on the season with a 60-21 victory over the Evans Lady Eagles on Tuesday.
Singer (5-0) took an 11-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and used a 20-7 outburst in the second period to take a 31-11 advantage over Evans (0-3) into the halftime intermission.
In the third period, a 20-5 run by Singer gave the Lady Hornets a 51-16 advantage heading into the final eight minutes of play.
From there, the Lady Hornets cruised to the win.
Morgan Eddleman paced Singer with 22 points, while Chance Cronce added 15 points in the win.
Allie Poirier, Bri Simmons, Kim Harvey and Kylee Cook each had five points for Evans.
