After waiting for several days, the Leesville?Lady Cats won’t have to hold their collective breaths much longer.
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association will announce the pairings for the upcoming volleyball playoffs early Tuesday.
The Lady Cats (18-4 overall, second place in District 1-4A) are expected to be one of 16 teams to reach the postseason in the Division II?bracket, which is comprised of teams in Class 4A.
In the most recent power rankings on the LHSAA Web site, which were released on Oct. 21, the Lady Cats were seventh overall, with district rival Sam Houston at the top.
But at that time, Leesville was 15-4 overall and 2-2 in the league. Since then, the Lady Cats have won three straight matches, sweeping past Washington-Marion and LaGrange in league play, while knocking off DeQuincy in four sets in a non-district outing.
If the Lady Cats remain in the top eight of the power rankings, which is very likely, when the playoff pairings come out, they will host a first-round matchup, likely next Monday.
Leesville and head coach Georgia Thomas are aiming for a second trip in three years to the state tournament at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, last going in 2006.
