Mat and Martha Koury have been selected to serve on the 2011 King Christopher the XXXVI Mardi Gras Court.
Matt is a life-long resident of Vernon Parish. He graduated from Leesville High School in 1991 and later received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northwestern State University. Matt is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, an 11-year member of the Leesville Lions Club, and also serves as a member of the NSU Alumni Board of Directors. Matt is employed with Gene Koury Auto Sales and Financial Services. Martha was born in Shreveport and graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in ’93. She attended Northwestern State University and received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master of education in school counseling. She is currently the coordinator of student services for Northwestern State University Leesville/Fort Polk Campus. She is a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, an 8-year member of the Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission where she currently serves as treasurer, and is vice president of the Tri Sigma/Alpha Zeta Chapter Housing Board of Directors. Matt and Martha have been married 8 years and are the proud parents of 6-year-old Mackie and 3-year-old Matthew.
