Tammy Lenahan Cecil is the daughter of Leland Cornelius and the late Vernia Gotreaux Lenahan of Anacoco. She graduated as valedictorian of the 1987 class of Anacoco High School. She obtained a bachelors of science degree in health and physical education from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1991 finishing her studies summa cum laude. She completed her masters of arts in literature in 1998 and +30 in counseling in 2004 from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. For the last 20 years,
she has been a public school teacher in the Vernon Parish School system. The first three years were spent at Leesville High School and the last 17 years have been spent at Anacoco High School teaching English IV, physical education, and fine arts survey. She is currently the Anacoco High School Leo Club advisor, senior class advisor, and the girls track and field and cross country coach. She is the director of religious education at St. Michael the Archangel church and is a member of the Anacoco Lions Club and Delta Kappa Gamma.
She is the wife of Raymond Cecil, III, and the proud mother of three sons, Zachary Slay, Joshua Cornelius, and Julian Ray who all attend school in Anacoco.
Raymond Cecil, III, native of Alexandria, is a 1981 graduate of Holy Savior Menard Central High School. He obtained his bachelor of science degree from Northeast Louisiana University in 1985. He did graduate studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before moving to Leesville in 1988. The couple met shortly afterwards and married in December of 1991. Ray is the executive director of the Louisiana Lions Camp for Children where he spent summers as a teenager working and has worked full time for the last 23 years. Ray belongs to the Leesville Lions Club and serves on the club’s board of directors. He enjoys the outdoors, loves playing golf with his friends and especially duck hunting with his boys.
