The Leesville Police Department will conduct a joint OWI Sobriety Checkpoint with the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office, Rosepine Police Department, Deridder Police Department and Merryville Police Department Friday, July 1, 2011 within the City Limits of Leesville.

The checkpoint is part of the Impaired Driving Enforcement campaign conducted with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission statewide campaign.  Drivers will experience minimal delays.

The checkpoint is an effective Law Enforcement tool that is used both in an effort to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway before they injure themselves or others and as a deterrent to impaired driving.

The Leesville Police Department would like to remind drivers to drink responsibly and use a designated driver.
