Monday, April 21, 2014, at the outset of the Vernon Parish Police Jury's regular meeting, five jurors were recognized and honored for their multiple terms of service to the parish.

Monday, April 21, 2014, at the outset of the Vernon Parish Police Jury's regular meeting, five jurors were recognized and honored for their multiple terms of service to the parish.

Parish Administrator and Treasurer Rhonda Plummer called attention to these jurors' service and awarded each with a lapel pin commemorating the event.

Those whom Plummer named were Jackie Grimes and Tommy McMahon, both of whom served three terms; Melvin Haymon, who served four terms; and James B. Tuck and Curtis Clay, both of whom have served five terms on the police jury.

Among other decisions made during the Monday meeting, the police jury voted to proclaim April Fair Housing Month in Vernon Parish.

They also adopted memorial resolutions for community members Alison McRae Morgan, Gary Dwayne Nash, George Schulte, Lenard E. Monk, Ronald Wayne Simmons, Ronald Williamson, and Johnny Bodine.
