The Leesville Wampus Cats opened the 2014-15 soccer season in impressive fashion on Monday night, knocking off the Natchitoches Central Chiefs at Wampus Cat Stadium, 6-0.

The Cats, who faced Rapides on Thursday night, took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first half of action and scored four times in the second half to secure the victory.

Pablo Chavez recorded four goals in the contest, while Tucker Wann and Micah Bursh each netted a goal in the victory. Bursh added an assist in the match, while Joe Flowers also recorded an assist.

Keeper Johnathon Price IV registered five saves in the shutout.

The Leesville Lady Cats managed to record an unassisted goal from Camdyn Bass, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Lady Chiefs of Natchitoches Central on Monday night in the season-opener, 5-1.

Victoria Doctolero stopped 17 shots in the match for Leesville, which hosted Menard on Thursday at Wampus Cat Stadium.
